Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book has become quite well known, now that Sean Penn made a movie of it (which I have yet to see). This was one of Krakauer's first well-known works of nonfiction, and I found it to be a fascinating look into the life of a unique, adventurous young man. Chris McCandless was a bit crazy, yes, but perhaps no crazier than those people who climb Mount Everest. What drives a person to want to live in the wilderness like that? The questions are perplexing yet draw me in.
