Bad Jane Austen

Those who know me personally might be aware that the first conversation my British husband and I had (while we were both living and teaching in Japan) concerned Jane Austen. We both majored in English (in fact, he has a M.Phil in English), and we both love Jane.

Over the years, Jane Austen has been a theme in our relationship. During our first trip to the wonderful Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport, Oregon (which every book lover must visit!), we stayed in the Jane Austen room. We visited her house in Chawton. We've reread her books and watched movies and miniseries. We have not sullied our image of her by reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but we have seen adapatations of her works such as "Clueless."

So it was with some amusement that I happened on http://www.badausten.com/, a parody site where Jane Austen lovers can submit fake Austen scenes and others can vote on them. Austen lovers, enjoy!
